Andre Malraux had said ‘Great films will be made only when we become a great audience’. KCA is striving hard to nurture the growth of great audience there by paving way for making of great films

Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, Which was formed by the Government of Karnataka in 2009, has taken up several projects to develop a healthy film culture in the state. Conducting Film Appreciation Courses in different parts of the State, in Colleges, and Film Societies is one of the projects which is progressing in the right direction. Forming Campus Film Societies in Colleges and starting film societies in District headquarters is another project that has made a big stride. In continuation of this, the Academy is now extending the facility of conducting International Film Festivals beyond metro cities. The festival is being organized in collaboration with Federation of Film societies of India and supported by various film and cultural organizations of the State.

This will be a low budget film festival and will be held from November 8 to 20th, 2010. During the festival, we are planning to screen Indian as well as foreign films in Bangalore and other four centers. There will be around 100 films covering Indian cinema, classics of the world cinema and the contemporary world cinema to be showcased in this event. ‘Yavanika’, ‘Suchitra’, and ‘Sevasadana’ are the centers that are going to exhibit the films. Some of the well known classics of the world cinema which are yet to find their screenings in some of our other centers in State will be screened in the festival.
